In times of stress we all have tendencies to leave our bodies, trying to cope with what overwhelms us. My shamanic work provides tools to help individuals discover and manifest their unique gifts and talents, and practices that help keep us connected to ourselves, mindful of who we are and living in balance.
My teacher and mentor is Ann Sousa, a Shamanic Practitioner and Diviner, currently studying with Malidoma Somé, a West African Shaman. She has visited and traveled with Peruvian Shamans. She is a Shamballa and Reiki master. She holds a degree in Mental Health and Science, and has done extensive work in the process of death and dying for the past 25 years. Ann is an intuitive healer, channeling energy with the ancestors and the universe. She practices daily sacred ritual with the ancestors and has a deep and abiding connection with that realm.
I have travelled to Peru to work with Pierre Garreaud, a Peruvian Sound Healer, Shaman and Teacher where I received Karpay initiations and activated energies with my Mesa with Shamans from two powerful lineages, the Inca and Moche Chimu cultures. I studied with several Shamans while in Peru, Don Martin who holds the highest ranks in Andean Shamanism as Alto Misayoc, practicing Andean medicine for over 25 years. He was born in the Andean community of Paccopata, raised in Paruro(Cuzco). He was the apprentice of the famous Don Benito Corihuaman, under whom Don Martin studied and received his Karpays, the transmission of energy. After Don Benito's eath, Don Martin inherited his mesa, his knowledge and wisdom.
Don Martin resides in the village of Huasao, Peru where he performs daily coca leaf readings, healings, cleansings, purifications, extractions, and ceremony for his local community and people from abroad. He is the keeper of the sacred Apu Pachatusan (where the Earth dances) the main Apu of the city of Cuzco.
His special gift comes through the eyes and wings and energy of the Condor. He was 10 years old when first visited by the Condor, the spiritual Apu of the Andes which also became his spiritual name.
His work with healing stones, the Earth honoring ritual (Despacho), and flute-playing is legendary. Don Martin is married to Maria Sanchez, the granddaughter of Don Melchor Deza, a powerful shaman from Huasao, and also the niece of Don Benito Corihuaman. Don Martin holds the highest ranks in Andean
Shamanism as Alto Misayoc, practicing Andean medicine for over 25 years.
We were able to have ceremony with another Q'ero Shaman, Don Francisco Chura Flores at Huchuy Qosqo. We ended our trip travelling to the northern Peru spending the last week of our tour studying and holding ceremony with Doña Ysabel and Doña Olinda famous curanderas from the North Coast of Peru (Chiclayo). Known as “The Twins”, they work in their community as respected healers. They use ancient traditional ways to treat people. The focus of their medicine is to put you at peace with the Spirits of Universe. Isabel, from Singo in the province of Huancabamba, and Olinda, from Huancabamba village are soul twins, also known as Yanatin-Masintin, a balanced complementary union of masculine and feminine energy.
